"ONE OF THE GREATEST GIFTS YOU CAN GIVE IS YOUR TIME."
SHELTER DOG PROGRAM
One Love believes that shelter enrichment programs are a necessity. Many dogs have trouble adjusting to shelter life and need a little extra help getting adopted. The Shelter Dog Program ("SDP") was established in 2015 to assist local shelters with pit bull type dogs who are at risk and/or long time residents. SDP volunteers are required to become registered volunteers at Maricopa County Animal Care as well.
Click HERE to apply! One Love volunteers must be 18 or older unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. However, if your child is at least 15, they can also volunteer independently with the shelter.
One Love's volunteers become an anchor for our shelter dogs during their time at the shelter. They provide love, enrichment, exercise and time away from the shelter. Volunteers also get to know the dogs very well which helps us market them properly, because our end goal is getting them into the perfect home.
SHORT TERM FOSTER HOMES
A few days in a quiet home can make all the difference for a dog in the shelter system. Some need to recover from illness while others simply need to relax in a loving and stress-free environment. Our ultimate goal is to get them healthy and ready for adoption. One Love is currently searching for approved short term foster homes for our Shelter Dog Program. The time frame may vary from a few days to a few weeks.
We are currently recruiting volunteers for our the One Love Street Team! We regularly attend adoption events and fundraisers. These events are always FUN!
VOLUNTEERING WITH ONE LOVE
One Love volunteers give their heart and soul to shelter dogs. It's not all sunshine and smooshy face kisses though! MCACC is a municipal shelter and sometimes tough decisions have to be made. We are "big picture" people who want the best for the dogs and our community. There will be good days and sad days, but the dogs make every second worthwhile. We can promise you the rewards are endless...and they will feed your soul.
If this kind of work interests you, please:
1. Fill out our application
2. Consider signing up as a shelter volunteer with Maricopa County Animal Care so you can work with our Shelter Dogs
3. Attend One Love's Orientation
We hold orientations for One Love approximately 6 times a year. After we review your application to learn about your current interests and skills, you will be put on a wait list until the next orientation. If you want to speed up this process, we encourage you to join us at MCACC to learn how we help shelter dogs get ready for adoption. Our very best team members start out this way. Going through Maricopa County Animal Care's orientation is quick and easy!
